New Year, Same Persistence

A new year brings new plans and that stubborn hope that this time it’ll work out.

Moving to a new country is a big challenge on its own, but finding a place in the Swiss job market has been the biggest one so far. Receiving rejections has become part of the routine. It doesn’t matter how much you study, prepare, or fine-tune your resume—sometimes it feels like there’s always something missing, or rather, someone to give you that extra push. Here, they even have a name for it: “vitamin B,” meaning connections or referrals.

It’s frustrating to think that, despite all the effort and preparation, the doors remain closed. Yet, amidst it all, hope persists. Back in Brazil, we have a saying: Tudo passa — everything passes. And I hold onto that, knowing no phase lasts forever. With resilience and a bit of patience, I believe the yes will come.

In the meantime, I’m staying proactive.

I'm enrolling in refresher courses, attending workshops and immersing myself in new technologies, mainly AI. I'm also concentrating on improving my German and applying for jobs every day. In my field of design, competition is fierce - it's normal for job vacancies to receive more than 100 applications. Many good professionals from all over the world want to work here.

2025, I’m ready for what’s next 🙌
